KING EDWARD’S COURT, WINDSOR - Modular LA Elwell, in conjuction with our client Bristol-based Metek Building Systems made and supplied all the steel used in the innovative framework of King Edward’s Court, Windsor. The building occupies a prestigious site next to Windsor Royal Station and has been completely rebuilt to create a spacious public concourse and modern shopping area. The structure of the “island” forming a major shopping area was constructed as a long span steel frame, including long cellular beams for the top floor. From the 5th to 9th floors a new Travelodge hotel is located built entirely in light steel framing, using LA Elwell materials. The load bearing light steel framing was manufactured by LA Elwell and installed by Metek UK in just four months. A new way of building for the residential and hotel sectors, the £0.5 million light steel framing contract is one of the largest of its kind for our client Metek.
